myLot Launches AI tool to power Sunshine Coast residents

We’re proud to announce myLot’s launch at the Sunshine Coast Council, working with Mayor Rosanna Natoli and the council’s fantastic Development Services team to bring 24/7, tailored development guidance to the local community.
Why we’re so proud of this launch
Home to more than 330,000 residents, Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) is one of Queensland’s largest councils, and one of Australia’s fastest growing commercial centres.
As the council manages rapid growth, streamlining the planning process for residents is crucial and we’re proud to support this vibrant community with an AI enquiries service that answers their planning questions reliably and accurately, 24/7.
So that questions like:“Can I add a granny flat?” “Do I need approval for a shed?” and “Do I need a permit for my new deck?” don’t cause uncertainty and confusion. Instead, they’re answered instantly online (any time), with any next steps clearly outlined.
As our CXO & Co-Founder Alex explains:
“It lowers the bar to getting planning information… it guides [users] through the questions they need to answer, as opposed to them having to research the planning scheme themselves.”
Being able to bring that kind of support to the community is exactly why we built myLot in the first place.
How this helps locals
For Sunshine Coast residents, this means:
- 24/7 access to planning and permit answers online, in multiple languages
- No more waiting until Monday morning to understand their next step
- Less guesswork when planning upgrades or new structures
- More confidence in the early stages of their projects
- Clearer pathways for when they do need to engage with council staff
It also means the SCC planning team can spend more time on more complex or specialised enquiries, and on site visits.
“We are so excited to be able to feature AI to really power up our people.” -Rosanna Natoli, Sunshine Coast Mayor
Where we’re heading next
This launch is a big step for the Sunshine Coast but it’s also a big step for myLot. It shows what’s possible when councils embrace new ways of helping their communities and strengthens our mission to make planning easier – for everyone.
We’re already working with other councils across Australia, streamlining the planning process to reduce manual effort and remove bottlenecks.
“By working with Australia’s leading technology partners, we’re delivering smarter services that make it easier for people to plan and build with confidence.” - Rosanna Natoli, Sunshine Coast Mayor
We’re grateful for the support of the Australian Government’s Housing Support Program, and the Sunshine Coast Council team for their enthusiasm in implementing myLot.
